The old bookcase was in bad shape, so I decided a bookshelf would be a smarter idea. Four bookshelves to be exact, 8' long too. And a fifth 4' one for good measure. I like overkill a lot.
For the first time in our marriage, we have space for all our books... with some room left over. I even took out all my academic school books I kept that have been in storage for 5 plus years. Everything [miraculously] fits. It’s crazy.
The whole thing cost like $260, which is a lot for me. But I’ve been wanting to build this for months. And when my parents visited for the week, I had to pull the trigger. I’m really happy on how it turned out.
Religious books
Kids books and games, manga that my brother gave me, anything else that doesn’t fit a neat category.
Programming and game theory books.
The corner
It wasn’t my intention, but I have a reading corner now. Naturally with a tv hooked up to various game systems. :)

That is awesome! Bonus points for the reading corner. When we bought our house, we too finally had a wall that could hold all our books. The daughter’s books have to go elsewhere though.

We have some kids books elsewhere (my daughter has a stash in her room). Yeah, the corner originally had a massive tube tv there. We tossed it for the fish tank my wife wanted (only two fish left!), to which it got converted to a corner I could work at home from, then a work corner and a tv corner, then just a tv corner. Now it’s a tv and book corner. It’s been through a lot, lol.

Books are a divine purpose and the ultimate evolution for a space.

Pretty much. Plus having them all in one location helps make finding that ‘one book’ easier, lol.

It’s pricey but worth it.
